In the heyday of St. Gallen embroidery, St. Gallen's University (HSG) was formed in 1898 as a business academy, and its first courses were given in 1899. We are committed to offering a practical education to our more than 9,000 students, directed by an integrated strategy that includes management, economics, law, social sciences, global diplomacy, and computer science.

University of St.Gallen (HSG) Research
We do high-level basic and practical research in a variety of fields at HSG. School of Management, School of Finance, University of Political science, School of Law, and School of Social sciences And Humanities are the five schools that make up the university.
Approximately 40 institutes & research institutes, as well as roughly 80 chairs, are involved in this study. HSG's institution model differs significantly from that of other Swiss institutions. The extraordinary academic character of HSG and its research is reflected in this federal idea.

St. Gallen's University's Career and Corporate Affairs (CSC) is the primary point of contact for our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. The CSC team is made up of coaches & career counsellors with experience in a variety of professions and areas.
Their goal is to assist students in developing a career plan and achieving professional milestones that meet their needs. Individual consultations and seminars on a variety of issues, including professional drafting of application materials, interview training, interview preparation, and personal stocktaking and decision making, are available for this purpose.

Schools and Institutes
After a reorganization in 2011 There are now five schools within the University of St. Gallen:
- it is the School of Management (SoM-HSG),
- it is the School of Finance (SoF-HSG),
- The Law School (LS-HSG),
- The School of Economics and Political Science (SEPS-HSG) and
- The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS-HSG)
The study programs are usually tied to a specific school, however they are taught by faculty members from different schools. The Executive School of Management, Technology and Law (ES-HSG) plays a special role which has the status of an InstitutmitbesonderengesamtuniversitarenAufgaben and which runs the MBA and executive education programs.
Study Programs
A new structure for studies was put into operation in winter 2001/2002. The degrees are now separated into Masters, Bachelors and Doctoral programs , in line to the Bologna Process. The courses at the Bachelor level are generally taught in German however, the majority of Master's programs as well as Doctoral courses teach in English. Since 2013 the bachelor's degree programs began with the assessment period for students of all levels. Assessment year has been launched in two distinct tracks (German/English) to increase the ratio of student/teacher.

They look at how many Nobel Laureates (Field Medalists) are headquartered there, how frequently their research is cited and referenced throughout the world, and how they've contributed to other academic sectors. ARWU grades the universities based on these parameters after comparing the calculated them.
University of St.Gallen (HSG) Services
Student Service
Our kids have access to a wide range of services and activities. A Language Centre, Unisport, Mensa (on-campus cafe), Freshers Week, Kick-Off Days, Careers and Corporate Affairs, HSG Shop, and Student Mobility are among the amenities available (Double Degree, approximately 200 exchange partner universities worldwide). Financing, counselling and psychiatric treatments, special needs, crches, and spiritual care are only some of the services available.
Our Student Group is the authorized representative body for students at HSG and serves as the umbrella organization for all unions and activities. Its representatives and student endeavor to bring their ideas to fruition and contribute to the University's growth.
Housing Service
We do not provide on-campus housing. Students typically share an apartment or rent a tiny one. Students can acquire a single bedroom for up to CHF 500 per month if they share an apartment. Small private apartments may be rented for as little as CHF 650 per month.
In exchange for a brokerage charge, HSG's Student Mobility offers a restricted number of bedrooms in a student housing. Students that are interested should contact us as soon as feasible.

Library Service
Over 600,000 books, periodicals, and nonfiction books (DVDs, audiobooks, CDs) are housed in our open-access library, together with over 130,000 e-books and 1,000 printed journals, as well as access to over 30,000 electronic journals.
University of St.Gallen (HSG) Student Life
Campus Life
The University of St. Gallen's campus appears to be a well-planned, compact construction with contemporary facilities. The complex is also a cultural and artistic hub: pieces by artists like as Arp, Miró, Braque, Cucchi, Giacometti, and Richter were commissioned by the architect Walter M., who collaborated with Forderer and Bruno Gerosa on the project.
Hawk is the campus bar of the student union. On Fridays, our students provide coffee and muffins, beer, and Weisswurst (veal sausage) in a pleasant setting.
Sports Facilities
The institution has a gym, weight room, football pitch, tennis, basketball, and beach volleyball facilities to keep the body and mind in check. The university's picturesque position between Lake Constance and the Alps makes St. Gallen a great place to go rock climbing and yachting.
Three tiny lakes on a hill on the city's outskirts function as public swimming pools in the summer and ice rinks in the winter, and are only just few minute' walk from the city center. The Peter and Paul Wildlife Park, which is close to the university, is a favorite jogging and walking spot for students.
Student Club
A total of 120 student unions and projects contribute to the university's rich and diverse culture. The Scandinavian Society, Asia Club, and Club Latino are international organizations, whereas the St. Gallen Lacrosse Club, St. Gallen Sailing, and the UnisGolf Club are sporting organizations. However, cultural organizations such as ProArt, a orchestra, and the HSG Big Band contribute to a broader range of recreational possibilities.
St. Gallen's University also hosts international events such as:

The HSG Talent Conference attracts more than 100 multinational companies to showcase themselves on the HSG campus.
