Located in Tampa, the Institution of South Florida, or USF for short, is a public research university. It is the fourth-largest university for research in the USA. More than 49,000 students are enrolled at the university. 9.8% of the university's student population is made up of international students from 146 countries. The College of Arts and Science at USF Tampa is the most popular program. It also houses the Muma College of Business and the College of Engineering. These programs have more than 17,000, 6,700 and 6,100 students, respectively. USF Tampa has 34 residence halls, which can accommodate more than 5,500 students. Except in exceptional cases, first-year students must live on campus.

  • Students searching for housing options in Tampa must complete an application and choose a suitable room.
  • Apartment-style housing is also available. Students can also live in the Greek village.
  • Each student will be provided with a bed in a twin XL-size bed, a desk, chair, bookcase and dresser, as well as securing he or she owns if necessary. Students may bring a microwave with a power limit of 1,000W and a mini-fridge with a capacity of 4.5 cubic feet.
  • Ground floors include a kitchen, laundry, TV lounge and activity rooms. Each room has an Ethernet connection, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

University of South Florida Scholarships

Merit-based scholarships are available to international freshman and transfer students who study at USF. Students who start in the Fall Semester are not eligible for USF Tampa scholarships. Students cannot accept more than one award. These awards require students to have a high GPA and score well on the SAT/ACT exams.

Freshmen can receive scholarships for up to four years. All Green & Gold scholarships are credited as a partial out-of-state tuition waiver.
