The University of Manchester is a public research university located in Manchester, England. Manchester's campus sits situated south of Manchester City Center on Oxford Road. The University is home to important cultural assets like Manchester Museum, Manchester Museum, Whitworth Art Gallery, John Rylands Library, The Tabley House Collection and Jodrell Bank Observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology was established in 1824. It was originally known as the Mechanics Institute. The founding fathers believed that all careers depended on scientific principles. Therefore, the institute taught people working in various sciences that applied to their current occupations. The idea was that the application of science could encourage the development of professions and professions. The Victoria University of Manchester was established in 1851, originally known as Owens College. University of Manchester Campus
The main campus of Manchester houses the majority of its facilities. It is commonly called the campus, but Manchester does not count as a university that is a campus as it is generally used to mean. It is situated within the city, with its facilities incorporated in the urban fabric of Manchester and include non-university structures and major roads that connect them.
The campus is which is roughly the shape of a boot. The foot of which is oriented roughly from north-east to south-west and connected to the larger southern portion of the boot with an area of overlap the former UMIST and the former VUM buildings. It is divided into two sections:

North campus, also known as Sackville Street Campus, centred around Sackville Street

South campus, also known as Oxford Road Campus, is centred around Oxford Road.
The names aren't officially recognized by the University, However. They are used frequently for various parts of its website. They roughly correspond to campuses at the former UMIST and Victoria University, respectively.
Fallowfield Campus It is the principal residential campus located in Fallowfield, located approximately two millimetres (3.2 kilometres) to the south of its main campus.
There are also other buildings of the University in the city as well as the surrounding region including Jodrell Bank Observatory located in Cheshire in the UK and One Central Park in Moston which is a partnership among the school and other partners that can provide offices for new businesses and facilities for conferences and workshops.

We ensure that our Philosophy researchers have access to an ideal workspace close to our academic personnel offices. Desks (with computers) are allocated according to a 'hot-desking' system.
