It is the National University of Singapore (NUS) is a collegiate national research university located in Queenstown, Singapore. It was established in 1905 under the name of NUS, the Straits Settlements and the Federated Malay States Government Medical School. NUS has consistently been recognized as one of the most famous educational institutions across the world and in the Asia-Pacific itself. It is a major function in the advancement of science and technology and offers an international approach to research and education, with a particular attention to the knowledge and perspectives from Asia.In 2022 it was noted that the QS World University Rankings ranked NUS 11th globally and the top in Asia.
NUS is the longest-running autonomy-based University of the United States. It is primarily a broad research university offering degree programs across a wide variety of disciplines both at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels, which includes the sciences as well as dentistry and medicine design and environment sciences and arts business, engineering and music.
The main campus of NUS is situated in the southwestern region of Singapore, close to Singapore's Kent Ridge subzone of Queenstown with an area of 170 ha (420 acres). The Duke-NUS Medical School is a medical school postgraduate co-founded together with Duke University, is located on the Outram campus. Its Bukit Timah campus is home to its Faculty of Law and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy; and the Yale-NUS College, a liberal arts college that was established in conjunction with Yale University that is scheduled to be merged into The University Scholars Programme in 2025 to create NUS College. It is located in University Town (commonly known as UTown).

Computing and IT services
The network and IT services are typically provided by its main IT division, the Computer Centre. NUSNET is used for the areas of research, education, and administration. In 2004 a grid computing network for campus-wide use that was based upon UD Grid MP was deployed with a minimum of 1,000 computers. This is one of the largest virtual supercomputing networks within the area.
NUS utilized Internet2 technology to allow distance learning. The students of Singapore, along with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, were capable of learning and interacting with each other in a virtual class.
Library services
NUS Libraries NUS Libraries comprises 8 libraries that include The Central Library, Chinese Library, CJ Koh Law Library, Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library and The Medical Library, Music Library, Science Library and East Asian Institute Library. Its main clients are NUS and affiliated research institutes of NUS as well as students, teaching faculty researchers, administrative staff and members, and an extensive group of outside members. The collection covers subjects such as the fields of architecture, building and real estate, dentistry, business and engineering, computer science as well as the sciences of the humanities and social and includes law as well as music, medicine nursing , and science. In June 2017, there were 2,354,741 distinct titles and 26,074 microform sources within the collection.
NUS University Town
It was NUS University Town (UTown) began operations in August 2011. The town is situated just across from the NUS Kent Ridge campus. It was constructed upon the former site of an old golf course. It is where 2400 undergraduate students along with 1,700 graduate students as well as 1,000 researchers live, work and study within close the vicinity of. There are four residential schools: Cinnamon College, Tembusu College, College of Alice & Peter Tan and Residential College 4 - initially called Cinnamon, Tembusu, Angsana and Khaya, respectively.
