Gulf Medical University History

Gulf Medical University (GMU) is located on the western coast of the UAE in the emirate of Ajman. The Thumbay Group established Gulf Medical College (GMC) in 1998. His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, the ruler of Ajman and a member of the UAE Supreme Council, issued Decree Number 1 on 28 January 1998, establishing the college.

Following a Decree by Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates, the school was designated as a university in 2008.

Gulf Medical University Scholarship

First-year undergraduate students at Gulf Medical University are eligible for merit-based tuition discounts. Students can receive 15% to 25% scholarship in most courses, but for Healthcare Management and Economics, any student with a high school grade point average of 65 percent or higher according to the UAE education system can receive 25% to 50% scholarship.

Alumni of the university who enrol in postgraduate study are entitled for up to a 25% scholarship. Graduate students who work for the Ministry of Health, the Dubai Health Authority, or the Health Authority Abu Dhabi are eligible for preferential rates. University alumni and Thumbay employees are also eligible for special discounts.
