Established in the year 2000, Singapore Management University (SMU) is an private institution. In 1997 Singapore's Singapore administration appointed an entrepreneur named Ho Kwon Ping, to aid in the establishment and expansion for the school. In 1999 The Wharton Research Centre collaborated with SMU through the agreement between the two universities. In the end, SMU created three centers, four schools as well as a library during the year 1999, the year of the agreement. In addition, the school is recognized for its American course of study.

This campus at Singapore Management University features the School of Information system, School of Economics, School of Accountancy, School of Law, School of Business as well as the School of Social Sciences. Lee Kong Chian School of Business
The Lee Kong Chian School of Business (LKCSB) is a school that has the distinction of being SMU's original school. It opened its doors to its first cohort consisting of Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) students in August of 2000. The school was named in honor of the famous philanthropist Lee Kong Chian.
This school provides its students with the Master of Science in Applied Finance (China) program, as well as it also offers the Master of Science in Communication Management (MCM) along with 10 days of study on the UCLA Anderson School of Management. School of Economics
The School of Economics (SOE) was founded in July 2002 as a part of the School of Economics and Social Sciences (SESS). After a restructuring, the school's economics department was separated from its social science faculty faculty to establish a school on its own. The restructuring was generally regarded as a good decision due to the fact that the curriculum of SOE was inspired by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania instead of following the traditional social science-based economics program that was offered at many other universities.
School of Computing and Information Systems
The School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) was initially established in an institution known under the name of the School of Information Systems (SIS)with the help from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the year SMU and CMU created a strategic partnership that was designed to utilize the knowledge and expertise from the CMU faculty during the initial school's establishment.
SCIS offer its Master of Science in Information Systems, Master of IT in Business (MITB), along with The PhD in Information Systems programs along with their Bachelor of Science undergraduate offering. Its Master of IT in Business (MITB) adds to it Analytics and Financial Services Analytics Tracks with the Harvard Business School's HBX Credential of Readiness (CORe) online course.
Yong Pung How School of Law
At first, it was called the School of Law, the Yong Pung How School of Law (SOL) is the smallest school at SMU, with an annual enrollment of 180 students. The creation of the SOL was announced in August 2007. Prior to that, the SOL was a Department of Law under SMU's Lee Kong Chian School of Business and was led by Andrew Phang. The current Dean is GohYihan whom succeeded Yeo Tiong Min in July of 2017.
SOL offers a variety of programs. SOL offer students the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) undergraduate programme and also the American style Juris Doctor (JD) programme. It also has the Master of Laws (LLM) program, and the option of dual LLM together with Queen Mary University of London.
School of Social Sciences
The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) was founded in July 2002 as a component of the School of Economics and Social Sciences (SESS). In 2007 SESS was reorganized in 2007 and the School of Economics and School of Social Sciences were split into independent institutions within SMU. The main offering of the SOSS includes that of the Bachelor of Social Science, an undergraduate program that is multi-disciplinary. Within this program three majors are available, which include psychology, political science and sociology. Additionally to this, the SOSS provides the option of a PhD on Psychology.
