Saarland University is an academic institution that is located in Saarbrucken which is the capital city of the German state of Saarland. History Saarland University

Saarland University, the first to be established following World War II, was founded in the fall of 1948, with the help of the French government and under the tutelage of the University of Nancy.

In the early years, the Saarland was in a unique situation of being partly autonomous but connected to France by monetary and economic union. Life on Campus

There are two campuses at the university. The main campus, located only a few kilometres from Saarbrücken's downtown in a nice wooded setting, houses the majority of the university's colleges and departments.
